LEGO: Shaping Unique Experience Design Training
In 2024, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the LEGO Group on a unique project to address a challenge they faced with their product line. LEGO Design noticed that customers were spending more time looking at their finished models than playing with the models they built. The solution they sought was to invest heavily in training all their employees on the use of experience design, to consider what comes beyond the building phase. Together with Kaospilot expert Andy Sontag, I was asked to investigate the need for a multi-stage experience design program that would support the foundation for LEGO’s future plans.
The involvement
I was tasked with creating the initial workshop design for the first program & was heavily involved in the research to establish the learning needs of the experience design program.

Outcome
More LEGO designers trained everyday:
A successful experience design training program is currently being run at LEGO.
Different application of Experience Design:
The project provided a unique opportunity to apply experience design principles in a context that was different from what I normally see, focusing on the creation of LEGO products rather than from a company gathering perspective.
